Who ever said purple and grey don't go together?!

So this was another 'messing around' mani, playing with different colors to see how they look together. I had the idea to do a gradient in two colors that don't seem to be a common combo: purple and grey. Then I decided to add pink and black also. So I used Kleancolor Pastel Pink, Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac, L'Oreal Greycian Goddess, and a Petites' black:

I actually really love the gradient these made!

Then, for some reason, I decided it needed a little something else. So I added some gold butterflies that I've had for a year and never used; however, it wasn't until I was about 80% of the way done applying them that I realized I was putting them on upside down! =P Oops!

Oh well, the tiny antennas on them wouldn't stick down, and since they're made of some sort of thin metal, they kept poking and scratching me, and needless to say, didn't survive very long.

Though a beautiful gradient, this was a short-lived mani. I need to try it out again, but spend more time on it, make it less sloppy and thick, and definitely leave the butterflies out!

What are your favorite colors to create gradients with?

Buenos días. =)

I am loving the purple and gray together! I do agree with you on the butterflies, but I think if you threw some glitter in there it would be gorgeous!

I thought about adding glitter, but I wasn't sure if maybe it'd be too much. :\

Such a fabulous gradient. There have been tons of gradients floating around lately and this is absolutely hands-down my favorite. As soon as I saw it, I was in love. Why can't this be on my nails?! Lol.

This is such an amazing gradient! I actually love the butterflies!! I don't think at all that they are upside down, it just depends on from which angle you are looking from :D

Thanks! I just prefer having my cuticles being "the top", it's easier to photograph the way. =P

Who on earth said that?! Purple and gray are my two favorite colors so of course they go together. And of course this gradient turned out well :) The butterflies scratchiness would have driven me crazy too though.
