Born Pretty Store Nail Spikes Review

I have another spectacular product from Born Pretty Store to share with you today!

Yep... Spikes! These are a little on the pricey side: $7.99 USD for 100 in either silver or gold. They are completely worth it, though, and reusable if you want to spend a little extra time cleaning polish off the base of them after you remove them.

These spikes are 4 mm in diameter at the bottom, and 6 mm from tip to base. They are a little on the large side, but definitely aren't too big. Were they any smaller, I don't know that they would look as good, anyway.

Beware! I took dozens of pictures of these nails, but could only narrow it down to 9 of my favorite, so this post is a tad photo-heavy! I wanted to get shots of them at all different angles, though!

For the base of this manicure, I created a gradient with three shades from China Glaze's New Bohemian collection: No Plain Jane (purple), Deviantly Daring (teal), and Rare and Radient (the gold/green shift color).

I surprisingly had absolutely no problems keeping these on! I put a thick line of topcoat down my nail, placed the spikes on, then went all around and between them with another thick coat of Seche Vite. I wore them overnight and for another entire day, and they never popped off like I'd expected them to!

Of course, having a 6 month old baby, I didn't want to wear them too long anyway because I was afraid of scratching her with them. They really aren't very sharp, though. I didn't catch them on my hair or anything much, and never scratched myself or the itty bitty!

When it came time to remove these, I just pried at them and pushed the side of the spike until it popped off. I'm sure it would have been safer to my nail and easier to get them off had a soaked them in acetone or something, but I was in a hurry. Even prying them off, I didn't do any damage to my nails, though. No peeling or tears at all!

These nails reminded me of a metallic dinosaur or something, so I already have ideas in the works for painting a few spikes green or brown and doing dinosaur nails with them sometime in the future! ^.^

I just love these things! I am sure they are a little much for some people, but I think they just look so neat! And they were tons of fun to wear! I'll probably end up trying to do a Halloween look with them, too!

If you'd like to pick some of these spikes up, you can get them in a smaller bag of 10 for $2.99, and they are currently on sale for $1.99! Plus BPS offers free shipping. Either way, use my coupon code ANL91 when you shop and you'll get an additional 10% off your order!

The product in this post was provided for review. All opinions are both entirely true and completely my own. I received no compensation for my review.
