Stained Glass Flowers - Leadlighting Technique

Seeing all the DIY "sheer tint" polishes, I got the idea to try some out myself, but instead I used ink from markers. The original Sheer Tint polishes aren't opaque enough for my liking, so I love this simple solution!

I got nine bottles of Wet'n'Wild topcoat, pulled the ink cartridges out of markers, and squeezed about 20 drops of color into each one.

For a Leadlighting mani, I used Revlon Holographic Pearls and a no-name chunky silver glitter from L.A. Colors as a base, stamped over that and filled pieces of the design in with my sheer polishes.

I made the light blue polish with about a dozen drops of polish and it turned out a little more creamy looking than jelly like the ink ones.

Thanks!! It was pretty fun! :)
I have to give this DIY a try then! I've always wanted to get some of the tinted polishes but there way too expensive for me. These nails turned out amazing :)

Thank you! The polishes are fun to make, I'm up to around a couple dozen! And there are still a lot more colors I want to do!
It's really beautiful Amber!

Thank you so much!
I love this idea!
What kind of markers did you use? Is there a certain brand or type that works best?

Thanks!! I just used a cheap 10-pack from Walgreens that was about $1.50 for the polishes in this one. I've used Crayola, cheap dollar store highlighters, and scented markers too. I haven't noticed any difference between brands.
this is a brilliant idea, they look awesome!

Thank you! I've been having a lot of fun with it!
I actually tried this tonight and my blue marker came out dark orange!!! What a surprise that was. Any particular type of marker you are using?

What?!? Wow! That's crazy! I've used Crayola and a cheap pack of 10 from Walgreens. Both of those worked fine for me.
