Today's post is a short (well not really, but it is just two polishes, so kinda?) and sweet swatching. Barielle sent me two shades from their new ProSina collection. According to their press release, they are shades from their original line infused with a hydrolyzed keratin called ProSina. They are supposed to help strengthen and hydrate your nails.
While I can't speak for the benefits since I only wore them for a few minutes (the blue for probably 12 hours) to swatch them, I think this is a great idea if it really works! I'm skeptical about all polish "treatments" though, and neither seemed any different at either amount of time I wore them. I think I'd need to exclusively use these polishes for a month or better to be able to test the claims, which we all know is not going to happen. I have too much nail art'ing to do around here!
Anyway, let's start with that pretty neutral peach.
Peach Smoothie
Let's just get this out of the way real quick and move on.... seven coats. Yes. Seven. This did have a nice, easy formula, but I got tired of painting it on my nails after six thin coats; finally did a seventh thick coat and all was well. It dried fairly quick. The formula is thinner so it didn't take long. But there is no way I'm putting seven coats of polish on my nails the next time I want to wear a peach polish. It has a very faint silver shimmer throughout it, so that is kind of different and really pretty, I do love how it looks with my skin tone, and that massive quantity of polish coats actually didn't make my nails a mile thick like I expected, but ain't nobody got time for that. I don't care if it hydrates my nails and cleans my kitchen.
Berry Blue
Now this is the formula the other polish should have tried to strive for! A one-coat wonder! Absolutely perfect in every way! I swatched it last so I wore it for half a day but didn't notice any improvements in my nails in that time. Nor did it stain surprisingly. I used two coats of Yellow Stopper then two coats of Dream Polish Smooth Gem base coat because I was basically terrified of Smurf fingers, but I had zero issues!
I also love that this one is navy and you can tell it is navy. It is very dark and almost black, but you can see there is something else going on there besides just black. I wore it without topcoat and it does dry to a pretty shiny finish by itself too.
So will you be trying any of these new Barielle + ProSina polishes? They'll be released at the beginning of April, but I'm not sure how many of the original Barielle shades have been included in this new reformulation/line.
That's it for me today! Thanks for stopping by!
