The Digit-al Dozen does Gradients: Crinkled Chrome Mermaid

It is no secret that the fuglies are loved at NLL. I didn't actually realize it had been so long ago, but I did an entire series in 2013 called Fuglies Need Love Too where I swatched a bunch of "ugly" polishes, or polishes that many people would consider to be a hideous color, but I love.

Well, one collection of polishes that nobody can really argue falls under the fugly category is China Glaze's Crinkled Chromes from a couple years ago. I was gifted a few but never wore them because I already knew from swatches there had finally been a fugly created that even I couldn't love. Of course I needed to find a way to appreciate this gross mess of yuck anyway!

So I played with them for a few hours, tried them with water marbling (major fail), and finally settled on a gradient. In gradient form you get max glitter payoff so there isn't a bunch of metallic mess between the glitters and it is more of a solid texture than sporadic glitters.

For this gradient, I used (from cuticle to tip) three Crinkled Chromes:

  • Wrinkling the Sheets
  • Don't be Foiled
  • Iron out Details

Being that I used blues and greens, I thought maybe some mermaid scales could improve it just a little more still. Finally some 3D seashells and a couple thick coats of Seche Vite for a smooth and shiny finish. I.... I actually really love it! O.O

Dare I say it, I think I created a Crinkled Chrome mani that's.... cute? Likable?

What do you think? Is it a Crinkled Chome win?

Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to check out all the other Digit-al Dozen ladies' first gradient manis of the week too!
