The Digit-al Dozen does Whimsy & Twinsie Tuesday - Inspired by Your Childhood: Glow-in-the-Dark Lightning Bugs

I combined my themes for the second day of Digit-al Dozen's Whimsy week, with today's Twinsie Tuesday theme Inspired by Your Childhood, and ended up with some cool, glowing lightning bugs (fireflies) on my nails!

I felt like the contrast of yellow on a purple background helped pull in that whimsical theme, so I started on a base of L.A. Colors Radiant Orchid, topped with a little holo from Girly Bits Past and Present. The darker areas are sponged with Revlon Sultry. For the bugs, I dotted on Sally Hansen Gigabryte because realistic-looking lightning bugs would not be as whimsical as cute little circular ones; and covered them with larger dots of China Glaze Ghoulish Glow in attempt to get that light-fading-around-the-edges situation.

One of my favorite pastimes was running around the backyard as a kid, catching these bugs and putting as many as I could catch into a jar with holes in the lid, plus a little grass, to keep in my room and watch light up until I fell asleep. 

And of course, a necessary glow shot!:
